Sullivan's Island Winter-Spring 2018-19

He left a home within walking distance of his courthouse office so his wife, Emily, one of the first female doctors East of the Cooper, could be close to her work on the island. “After a week, I realized, ‘Hey, this isn’t so bad,’” he chuckled. “There is a family-first mind-set here that is rare and recognizable.” Condon spent several years in politics, serving as South Carolina’s youngest solicitor at the age of 27 and as the state’s attorney general for two terms. “Crime was the No. 1 issue when I ran. Criminal justice reform was needed,” he said. His notable contributions include homeowners’ rights to use deadly force against home invaders, South Carolina’s Victims’ Bill of Rights and domestic violence reform. Today, at Charlie Condon Law Firm, he practices criminal defense, civil litigation, probate matters, personal injury and governmental relations with Charles, the eldest of his four children. “Every day, I wake up and think living here must be a dream. The stunning sunrises and sunsets, the wildlife, fishing, history, Fort Moultrie, the parks and playgrounds, the beach, interesting people, walking to church – to me, it’s the most desirable place to live in the country,” he smiled.
