11 www.SullivansIslandMagazine.com | www.SullivansIslandHomes.com T hough Carol Antman once directed an arts center, she said her retirement five years ago commenced the most creative point of her life. “All I do is have fun,” she said. “I’m a travel writer, but primarily I’m a pianist.” Carol and her husband, Mark, have lived on Sullivan’s Island for more than 40 years. Both originally from Michigan and having met abroad, they had no interest in returning home and visited “every seaside and mountain town” before settling on the Carolina coast. “We met someone in a bar here on the island who invited us to come sleep on their floor afterward,” she recalled. “We walked out on the beach the next morning and loved it.” Today, the Antmans are joined by their family members who have also discovered the coastal charm. “I still love living here; I think it’s fabulous,” said Carol. “I love swimming in the ocean; love our grandkids being here. And now we have 12 people at our table during the holidays!” . lli I l i . | . lli I l . We Are Sullivan’s Island
