But it always acted as an anchor to the special spot of sand on Sullivan’s. I am sorry to report that the tree, which had stood sentinel through many a storm, relocated to Station 24 after Hurricane Irma. And it looks a little worse for wear from the waves, but now it is easily accessible so more people can enjoy its battered branches. Get to“the point” Some days I wander to Sullivan’s Point, as I call it, surrounded by glorious rays of sun, wading through the tide to reach my special spot. But as the seasons change, so must my attire, first in flip-flops, then in a jacket as the autumn chill sets in and finally bundled in hat and mittens when the winter wind whips up the sand. It is worth it; the worse the weather, the better the loot, there for the taking by those who brave the elements on blustery beach days. A dedicated beach walker I am, and so I must go each morning, regardless, to enjoy this glorious island that we are blessed to call home.
