U.S. Post Office • Harris Teeter • Publix Isle of Palms Magazine, Sullivan’s Island Magazine and Mount Pleasant Magazine are published locally by a team of independent contractors who reside in East Cooper. T here will be many firsts for me throughout the year here at Mount Pleasant Magazine and the subsidiary community publications we create for the East Cooper communities we serve. I find, and will find, something to love about each one. For the Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms Magazines , it’s the pure simplicity and beauty of the islands – no complications involved. A windy, wet, sandy walk on the beach with my golden fluffy dog, admiring the shells, waves and other beach-goers, may sound stressful to some, but it’s my ideal evening stroll when there is too much in my head. And I wanted to encapsulate that mood within these pages. Sullivan’s Island has always been my favorite beach in the tri-county area, and having the editorial space and time to devote to it was a both a treat and a challenge: I wanted to create unique content, both past and present. I think, with the help of Bill, our publisher, and his ever-flowing mind of ideas, and talented writers to execute those ideas, we managed to strike a balance. Because the “naturalness” of Sullivan’s is why I am so drawn to it, I particularly enjoyed featuring the dome house. This one really took me by surprise; talking with Michael Royal of Pareto Group, I learned that the house is essentially in unison with the beach that surrounds it. The process of publishing these island magazines was a celebration of summer for me and all the things about why I live here: the beauty, the nature, the personalities and the altogether “island life.” So escape for an hour or so. … and flip through our pages of island paradise.
